POWERGRID Secures ₹26,000 Crore Contract

POWERGRID
has achieved key corporate breakthroughs. On August 21, 2026, the it has secured a landmark ₹26,000 crore Barmer transmission project contract. Also, the company was declared the successful bidder under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding for a 6,500 MW renewable integration project in Gujarat, commanding an annual tariff of ₹822.91 crore. The two order represent major strategic progress for Power Grid, directly supporting country's aggressive green energy transmission goals. While a marginal net profit contraction occurred in Q1 FY27, the scale-up of the order backlog to ₹2.2 lakh crore, along with expanded borrowing headroom, positions the Powergrid to accelerate capitalization targets. This built a steadily growing rate-regulated asset base that supports reliable dividend returns. With two contract wins scaling its project backlog to ₹2.2 lakh crore, Power Grid remains the primary highway developer of India's green energy transition, driving predictable cash flows and stable long-term yields.
