Raymond says ₹430 crore Andhra Pradesh plant is on schedule

Raymond Limited

RAYMOND
says its new Gudipalli plant in Andhra Pradesh is on schedule. The planned capex is ₹430 crore over five years. What happened: The company said so in its August 2026 regulatory filing. The plant is next to its existing facility. It is for engineering and precision component work, including aerospace and automotive parts. In its September 2026 annual report, the company added that customer engagement on international aerospace platforms is growing. Why it matters: Q1 FY27 total income was ₹628 crore, up 13% from ₹555 crore. EBITDA was ₹100 crore, up 14.9% from ₹87 crore, at a margin of 15.9%. Spread over five years, ₹430 crore is about ₹86 crore a year. That is roughly a fifth of Q1 EBITDA taken for a full year (₹400 crore), so current earnings can cover the spend. My view: An on-schedule update is reassurance, not news. The key facts are missing. I have no capacity figure, revenue potential, start date or yearly spending plan, so I cannot work out the return on the ₹430 crore. Margin is also worth a look. Q1 margin of 15.9% compares with about 15.7% a year ago, so growth came mostly from volume, not better margin. New plants often weigh on margin in their first quarters. I also do not know how much of the ₹628 crore comes from engineering versus other businesses. What I am watching: The commissioning date, the first quarters of output from Gudipalli, and whether EBITDA margin holds near 15.9%.
