RBL Bank Q2 FY27 profit rises to ₹482 crore from ₹179 crore
RBL Bank Limited
RBLBANK
reported Q2 FY27 standalone net profit of ₹482 crore, against ₹179 crore a year ago. Total revenue was ₹4,320 crore.
What happened: Revenue rose about 23% from ₹3,510 crore in Q2 FY26. Gross NPA fell to 1.02% from 1.30% in the previous quarter, a drop of 28 basis points. Net NPA fell to 0.29% from 0.37%, down 8 basis points.
Why it matters: Profit is about 2.7 times last year’s level. Net profit was 11.2% of revenue, against 5.1% a year ago. Asset quality also improved in the quarter, which is the main thing investors want to see from a bank with a large unsecured loan book.
My view: Revenue grew 23% but profit grew far faster. That gap has to come from lower costs, mainly credit costs, or from other income, not from revenue growth alone. Falling NPA ratios fit with lower provisions, but my data has no provision, expense or net interest margin figures, so I cannot confirm it. The base also matters. Last year’s ₹179 crore was a low number, which makes the jump look bigger than the underlying improvement. The quarter is a good one, but whether the new level holds depends on slippages, margins and deposit costs. Unsecured retail loans and rising deposit costs are the two risks I would watch.
What I am watching: Credit cost and provisions, net interest margin and the CASA ratio in the detailed disclosures, and whether gross NPA keeps falling below 1.02%.
