Closing Bell: Sensex Rallies 473 Points,Nifty Settles 22,500

Indian benchmark indices staged a strong recovery on October 5, breaking a four-session losing streak amid broad-based buying. The Sensex surged 472.77 points (0.66%) to close at 72,382.47, while the Nifty 50 gained 133.80 points (0.60%) to settle at 22,555.75, moving back above the crucial 22,500 level. On the sectoral front, most indices finished in positive territory, with Pharma being the sole major laggard. Consumer Durables, FMCG, Media, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, PSU Banks, Telecom and Realty indices advanced between 0.5% and 2%. The broader market also witnessed positive momentum, as the Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices rose approximately 0.5% each, indicating improved investor participation across market segments.
