Today: Sensex falls over 300 points, Nifty near 24,300; !ZEE jumps 7%

Indian equities continued to trade under pressure on Friday, with the Sensex declining more than 300 points and the Nifty holding around 24,300, as selling intensified across several key sectors. The Sensex was lower by 319 points at 77,761, while the Nifty declined 76 points to 24,320. Market breadth remained weak, with nearly 2,009 stocks in the red compared with 1,636 gainers. Metals, IT drag markets Metal stocks led the sectoral decline, followed by IT stocks, which also faced significant selling pressure. PSU banks and oil & gas stocks traded lower amid the broader risk-off mood. Meanwhile, consumer durables remained among the few sectors to buck the downtrend. Broader market remains weak The midcap and smallcap segments also traded lower, each losing more than half a point. The negative market breadth indicated that selling pressure was spread across the broader market rather than being limited to large-cap stocks.
