FII / DII Activity (17 July 2026)

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) remained net sellers in the cash market, offloading equities worth ₹376.41 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) extended their buying streak by purchasing shares worth ₹1,017.89 crore, providing support to the market. In the derivatives segment, FIIs adopted a bullish stance. They recorded net buying of ₹5,392.98 crore in Index Futures, ₹8,075.09 crore in Index Options, ₹917.03 crore in Stock Futures, and ₹141.90 crore in Stock Options, indicating positive expectations for the near-term market trend. The benchmark indices ended the session on a strong note. The Sensex surged 964.58 points (1.25%) to close at 78,151.45, while the Nifty 50 climbed 261.55 points (1.09%) to settle at 24,334.30. Meanwhile, India VIX, the market's volatility gauge, rose 0.27 points (2.10%) to 13.15, reflecting a slight increase in investor caution despite the sharp market rally.
