$KOTAKBANK Q1 Profit Surges 26% to ₹4,123 Crore, Beats Estimates; Asset Quality Strengthens

Synopsis: $KOTAKBANK reported a robust performance for the June quarter, with standalone net profit rising 25.6% year-on-year to ₹4,122.96 crore, surpassing market expectations. While net interest income (NII) missed analysts' projections, the bank delivered improved asset quality during the quarter. The private lender's standalone net profit increased from ₹3,282 crore in the year-ago period to ₹4,122.96 crore, exceeding analysts' estimate of ₹3,910 crore. Net interest income, the difference between interest earned and interest paid, grew 9% year-on-year to ₹7,928.43 crore from ₹7,259 crore a year earlier. However, the figure was marginally below analysts' expectation of ₹8,058 crore. Net interest margin (NIM) stood at 4.53% for the quarter, compared with 4.65% in the corresponding period last year. Asset quality continued to improve, with the gross non-performing asset (GNPA) ratio declining to 1.18% as of June 30, 2026, from 1.48% a year earlier. The bank also reported an improvement in its net NPA ratio, reflecting a healthier loan portfolio. Overall, the lender's June quarter earnings were supported by strong profit growth and better asset quality, despite a slightly softer-than-expected NII performance.
