BSE
BSE climbed nearly 4% on May 19 following reports that the exchange is likely to be included in the benchmark Nifty 50 index during the September 2026 rebalancing, potentially replacing IT major Wipro. According to index eligibility rules, a reshuffle is triggered when an eligible stock’s Average Float Market Capitalisation (AFMC) exceeds 1.5 times that of the smallest constituent in the index. BSE currently meets this criterion, with its AFMC surpassing 1.5 times that of Wipro, making the IT firm the most likely candidate for exclusion. In the event of a single replacement, estimated one-way inflows into the Nifty 50 could reach $639 million. BSE has emerged as one of India’s best-performing financial stocks over the past year, gaining more than 63%. The rally has been supported by a surge in trading activity, increasing retail investor participation, and renewed momentum in its derivatives segment, especially weekly Sensex options, which have contributed to record earnings growth.
