Stock Market Holiday: The Indian stock market will remain closed on Friday, May 1, 2026, on account of Maharashtra Day. This means both major exchanges — the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) — will be shut for trading. Trading across equity, derivatives, and the Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB) segments will also remain closed for the entire day. Additionally, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will be closed during the morning session (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) but will operate in the evening session (5:00 PM – 11:55 PM). Stock Market Holidays in 2026: Around nine more holidays are scheduled for 2026. In May, there will be two trading holidays — May 1 (Maharashtra Day) and May 28 (Bakrid). This will be followed by one holiday in June. There are no market holidays in July and August, while September and December will each have one holiday. October and November are expected to have two trading holidays each.
