KFin Technologies witnessed a large block deal on Thursday, August 20, with around 1.51 crore shares, or approximately 8.75% of the company’s equity. The shares were traded at ₹925 apiece in the block deal window. General Atlantic is likely to be the seller, although the identities of the buyers and sellers have not yet been officially confirmed. The private equity investor had reportedly planned to offload up to an 8% stake in KFin Technologies through the block deal. The transaction was initially estimated at around ₹1,200 crore but was subsequently increased to nearly ₹1,400 crore.
The reported floor price for the deal was ₹919.56 per share, representing a discount of about 3% to KFin Technologies. The actual transaction was executed at ₹925 per share, implying a discount of roughly 2.4% to the previous close. General Atlantic held a 21.9% stake in KFin Technologies at the end of the June quarter. If the entire 8.75% block is attributed to General Atlantic, its stake would decline to approximately 13.2%. However, this remains subject to confirmation once the identities of the counterparties and final transaction details are disclosed.
KFin Technologies shares ended 1% lower on Wednesday. The stock has declined around 12% so far, compared with a 7.9% fall in the Nifty 50 during the same period. The company had a market capitalisation of approximately ₹16,386 crore as of Wednesday’s close.#StockInNews
