WELCORP STOCK FALLS AS EQUITY CHANGES HANDS IN BLOCK DEAL

WELCORP
Shares of Welspun Corp declined more than 4% in early trade on August 26 after around 2.4% of the company’s equity changed hands through the block deal window in a transaction worth more than ₹1,433 crore. As many as 63 lakh shares of the company were sold at ₹2,275.30 per share. The block deal comes after an earlier report indicated that Welspun Corp Managing Director and CEO Vipul Mathur was looking to sell 3 lakh shares, while promoter group entity Welspun Investments and Commercials Ltd. was expected to offload another 60 lakh shares. Together, the proposed sale represented approximately 2.4% of Welspun Corp’s outstanding equity. The transaction had a floor price of ₹2,250 per share, reflecting a discount of around 4.1% to the company’s August 25 closing price. At the floor price, the deal was valued at approximately ₹1,417.5 crore. Details of the buyers and sellers involved in the block transaction were not immediately available. While the number of shares traded matches the 63 lakh shares that Mathur and Welspun Investments and Commercials were reportedly planning to sell, their participation in the deal could not be independently confirmed immediately. Despite Wednesday’s decline, Welspun Corp has remained one of the strongest-performing stocks in 2026. The stock has surged around 192% year-to-date, significantly outperforming the Nifty 50, which has declined 6.9% over the same period. At its current price, Welspun Corp has a market capitalisation of approximately ₹59,000 crore.
