ACME Solar Q2 Profit Jumps 133% as Targets Rise

ACMESOLAR
delivered a strong Q2 FY27 performance, with consolidated profit after tax (PAT) rising 133.5% year-on-year to ₹269 crore, compared with ₹115 crore in Q2 FY26. Total revenue increased 67.5% to ₹1,007 crore, while EBITDA grew 63.6% to ₹874 crore. The growth was driven by renewable energy capacity additions and expanding battery energy storage system (BESS) operations. Power generation rose 19.6% to 1,840 million units during the quarter, while the capacity utilisation factor improved to 27.8% from 24.1% a year earlier. The company also commissioned approximately 2.1 GWh of BESS capacity, taking its cumulative commissioned storage capacity to around 5.2 GWh. This strengthens its ability to support peak-power demand beyond conventional solar generation hours. More importantly, ACME Solar has raised its FY27 cumulative BESS commissioning target from 10 GWh to over 12 GWh and increased its 2030 renewable energy capacity target from 10 GW to 15 GW. Its contracted portfolio stood at approximately 8.37 GW, with power purchase agreements signed for around 7.3 GW of capacity. From a research perspective, the higher targets and growing storage portfolio could support long-term growth, but execution remains critical. Investors should monitor project commissioning timelines, fresh power purchase agreements, debt servicing costs, cash flows and profitability as storage operations scale up. EBITDA margin declined to 86.7% from 88.8%, so revenue growth should also be assessed alongside margins and returns on capital. Learning Takeaway: In renewable energy companies, rising profits are important, but project execution, contracted capacity, storage deployment, debt levels and cash-flow generation help determine whether growth can translate into sustainable shareholder value.
