Amagi Q2 Profit Soars Nearly 30x to ₹74.8 Crore

AMAGI
reported a sharp improvement in its Q2 FY27 financial performance, with its consolidated net profit surging nearly 30 times year-on-year to ₹74.8 crore from ₹2.5 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Operating revenue increased 27% YoY to ₹475.8 crore compared with ₹374.8 crore in Q2 FY26. On a sequential basis, revenue grew 8.9% from ₹436.9 crore in Q1 FY27. Total income, including other income, stood at ₹501.9 crore, up from ₹389.6 crore a year earlier. A key positive was the moderation in expense growth. Total expenses increased approximately 9% to ₹419.3 crore, significantly slower than the 27% growth in operating revenue. This widening gap between revenue and expenses contributed to the substantial expansion in net profit. Sequentially, net profit also climbed 120.7% from ₹33.9 crore in the previous quarter. Amagi operates in the media technology and SaaS space, providing cloud-based software solutions that enable media companies to produce, distribute and monetise television and streaming content. The increasing shift toward cloud-based broadcasting and digital streaming infrastructure creates a long-term opportunity for the business. For investors, key monitorables include the sustainability of revenue growth, operating expense discipline, profitability margins, client additions and the company’s ability to maintain earnings momentum. A sharp rise in profit from a relatively low base should also be evaluated alongside the underlying operating performance. Learning Takeaway: In a SaaS business, operating leverage can significantly improve profitability when revenue expands faster than expenses. Investors should track revenue growth, cost discipline and recurring business momentum rather than relying solely on a large percentage increase in net profit.
