ICICI Bank Q2: Strong Numbers Meet Chart Test

ICICIBANK
’s Q2 FY27 standalone net profit rose 20.1% year-on-year to Rs 14,843 crore, about 3.9% above the poll estimate of Rs 14,280 crore. Net interest income grew 17.7% to Rs 25,339 crore, and core operating profit rose 21.8%. Asset quality improved, with the gross NPA ratio at 1.20% against 1.38% in the previous quarter. One watch point was net interest margin, which eased to 4.18% from 4.36% in Q1. Advances grew 30% and deposits 27.1%, partly helped by FCNR-B inflows. On the 4-hour chart, the stock has recovered from the late-September low near 1,290 and moved above the 1,360 area, a former support that had turned into resistance. It now trades near 1,396 with RSI at 67.14. The next area to watch is a falling trendline from the July high, around 1,420-1,430, with the July peak near 1,478 above it. The results came after Friday’s close, so Monday’s reaction will show how the market weighs the strong profit growth against the dip in margin. Holding above 1,360 would keep the recent recovery intact. Strong results can be priced in; the reaction at a key chart zone shows whether the market treats the numbers as fresh news.
