Adani Total Gas (ATGL) Shares Surge on Government’s Domestic Gas Priority Order

The primary catalyst is the Natural Gas (Supply Regulation) Order, 2026, issued by India's Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on March 9, 2026. This order prioritizes allocation of natural gas to essential sectors, particularly: Domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for households. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) used in transportation. This move addresses potential supply disruptions due to escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East (including the Iran-Israel conflict and concerns over the Strait of Hormuz), which have raised fears of tighter global LNG supplies and impacts on India's cooking gas (LPG) and natural gas availability.

ATGL
l Gas welcomed the order, noting it ensures priority for domestic PNG and CNG customers, as well as continued supplies to industrial and commercial users where possible. The company is coordinating with authorities to minimize operational impacts. Investors appear to view this as positive for city gas distributors (CGDs) like ATGL, as it supports resilient demand for CNG/PNG and potentially allows better margins amid supply constraints and higher gas prices.
