Aditya Birla Capital Enters Gold Loan Segment

ABCAPITAL
la Capital has forayed into the gold loan business through its NBFC arm, marking a strategic expansion of its secured lending portfolio. The company plans a phase-wise rollout of 200–300 dedicated gold loan branches by March 2027 across high-potential markets. Over the next three years, it aims to build a pan-India network of around 1,000 branches. The new offering will complement existing retail and MSME lending products. It will serve urban and semi-urban customers, including those already within the Aditya Birla Capital ecosystem, through a combination of physical branches and digital platforms. Emphasis will be placed on transparent pricing, secure handling of pledged gold, and quick disbursals. Rakesh Singh, Executive Director and CEO – NBFC, said gold loans are witnessing strong structural growth in India and the move is a natural extension of the company’s secured lending strategy. The business is being built from the ground up with a focus on trust, governance, and customer experience. Shares of Aditya Birla Capital rose over 2% following the announcement on August 20, 2026. The entry comes amid rising gold prices and growing competition from both specialised lenders and other diversified NBFCs expanding in the segment.
