a Capital Limited (ABCL) climbed more than 2% in early trading on Friday, following the company's announcement that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved its transition to a Non-Banking Financial Company - Investment and Credit Company (NBFC-ICC).
The stock closed at ₹362.65 on the previous trading day, ending a brief two-day decline and reflecting positive investor sentiment toward the regulatory milestone.
In a regulatory filing dated December 11, ABCL disclosed that the RBI issued a certificate of registration on December 9, formally converting the company from its prior status as a Core Investment Company (NBFC-CIC) to an NBFC-ICC. This change follows the successful amalgamation of ABCL's wholly-owned subsidiary, Aditya Birla Finance Limited (ABFL), earlier in the year.
The merger, effective from April 1, 2025, consolidated the group's lending operations into a single, unified entity, simplifying the corporate structure and enhancing operational efficiencies. The shift to NBFC-ICC status grants ABCL greater flexibility in lending and investment activities, along with improved access to funding sources.
Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla commented on the development, stating, "I am confident that the combined strength of our diversified financial products and services will enable us to accelerate growth, drive financial inclusion, and be a key contributor to India’s vast economic growth opportunities."
