Ather Energy Stock Surges 4% on Board Nod for Insurance Venture

Expansion Aligns with Vision for Comprehensive EV Ownership Suite In a strategic pivot,

ATHERENERG
ergy's shares climbed almost 4% during Friday's trading session, fueled by the electric two-wheeler maker's announcement of a new foray into the insurance sector. By mid-afternoon around 2:30 PM, the stock was quoted at Rs 688.35 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), reflecting a solid 3.85% increase from the previous close. The positive momentum followed the company's disclosure to regulators that its board of directors has greenlit the creation of a fully owned subsidiary dedicated to auto insurance services. This new arm will function as a corporate agent, distributing policies in collaboration with various insurance providers nationwide. Targeting its loyal base of EV owners, the subsidiary plans to roll out customized auto insurance options, with a special emphasis on solutions designed for electric vehicles. Ather highlighted that internalizing insurance distribution would not only optimize its service portfolio but also elevate the end-to-end customer journey—from purchase to maintenance. The initiative promises streamlined policy renewals, bespoke EV-centric coverage, and deeper interactions with users, all while partnering with a diverse pool of insurers to ensure competitive offerings. Ravneet Singh Phokela, Ather Energy's Chief Business Officer, emphasized the calculated nature of this expansion: "This represents a thoughtful progression, aimed at fortifying the customer experience and cultivating synergies that grow alongside our primary EV lineup." Positioned as a key pillar in Ather's overarching blueprint, the insurance push complements its holistic ecosystem for electric scooters. This includes not just the vehicles themselves, but also robust charging networks, after-sales support, add-ons, software updates, and now ancillary services like insurance—creating a seamless, all-in-one platform for sustainable mobility.
