Auto Stocks in Focus as February Sales Paint Mixed Picture

Automobile stocks, including

MARUTI
Suzuki,
M&M
& Mahindra,
TATAMOTORS
, and
BAJAJ-AUTO
Auto, are expected to see heightened activity on Monday as investors digest their February sales figures amidst a broader market downturn. The auto sector has been under significant pressure, with the Nifty Auto index plummeting nearly 11% in February, driven by foreign capital outflows and concerns about economic slowdown. This selloff has seen major players like Hero MotoCorp, M&M, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor, Tata Motors, and Eicher Motors experience substantial drops in their stock values. Mixed Sales Results Fuel Investor Concerns The February sales numbers, a key indicator of consumer sentiment and economic health, have presented a mixed picture. Maruti Suzuki reported a slight year-on-year increase in domestic passenger vehicle sales, while Hyundai and Tata Motors saw declines of 5% and 9%, respectively. In contrast, Mahindra & Mahindra reported a 19% growth in its utility vehicle sales. Ola Electric also reported a near three-year low in monthly registrations, despite maintaining its market leader position. These varied results are likely to contribute to market volatility on Monday, as investors grapple with the implications of slowing demand in certain segments and relative strength in others. The overall pressure on auto stocks, stemming from broader economic concerns, is expected to continue influencing trading.
