BEML surge over 3% on Rs 5,400 crore high-speed rail order

BEML
BEML Limited rose more than 3% on Friday after the defence and engineering public sector undertaking secured a major order valued at over Rs 5,400 crore from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). The contract covers the supply and maintenance of high-speed rolling stock along with allied works for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor, India’s first bullet train project. BEML informed the stock exchanges of the development through a regulatory filing, stating that the order was received in the normal course of business. The stock touched an intraday high of Rs 2,121 before settling higher, reflecting investor optimism over the significant addition to the company’s order book. The MAHSR corridor spans approximately 508 km and aims to sharply reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
