BSE Shares Surge 3.5% as SEBI Chief Confirms Weekly F&O to Continue

td jumped 3.5% in intra-day trade on Friday after SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey reassured markets that weekly futures & options (F&O) contracts will remain in place.
Speaking at the CNBC-TV18 Global Leadership Summit, Pandey said, "The current certainty is that weekly F&O is on and it is working." He emphasized that any future measures on derivatives will be "calibrated and data-based," with a discussion paper outlining a balanced approach.
By 12:00 PM, BSE stock was trading at ₹2,542 on the NSE, up ₹86 or 3.5% from its previous close. The BSE Capital Markets index also gained 0.7% to 4,523.
Market participants welcomed the clarity, easing recent concerns over potential curbs on high-frequency weekly expiries.
In related news, the ₹6,600-crore Groww IPO continued its strong momentum on Day 3, with the retail portion subscribed nearly 7 times. Overall bids stood at 2.8 times the issue size, reflecting robust investor appetite for new-age broking platforms.
