Cipla Stock Dips 3% Despite Landmark Eli Lilly Partnership for Weight-Loss Drug Launch in India

Shares of Indian pharmaceutical major

CIPLA
la Ltd. tumbled over 3% in early trading on Friday, erasing some of the recent gains fueled by anticipation surrounding a high-profile collaboration with global giant Eli Lilly and Company. The partnership aims to bring the blockbuster diabetes and obesity treatment Tirzepatide to the Indian market under a fresh brand name, but investors appear to be cashing in on profits after the news broke. The stock, which had surged more than 7% over the previous eight trading sessions amid speculation of the deal, opened lower and was last seen trading at around ₹1,520, down 3.2% from Thursday's close. This pullback comes just a day after Eli Lilly and Cipla unveiled their agreement in a joint statement, marking a significant step in expanding access to innovative weight management therapies in one of the world's fastest-growing markets for such drugs.
