Delhi Draft EV Policy 2026–2030: Big Tax Breaks & Petrol Phase-Out
elhi government released the draft Electric Vehicle Policy 2026–2030 on April 11 for 30-day public feedback. It offers 100% exemption on road tax and registration fees for electric cars priced up to ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom) till March 2030. Strong hybrids in the same bracket get 50% concession.
Key incentives include tapering purchase subsidies for e-two-wheelers (up to ₹30,000 in Year 1) and e-auto-rickshaws (up to ₹50,000), plus scrappage benefits up to ₹1 lakh for new EVs. The policy mandates only electric three-wheelers for new registrations from Jan 1, 2027, and only electric two-wheelers from April 1, 2028.
Aimed at cutting pollution, it targets higher EV penetration with charging infrastructure push. On April 13, pure-play EV stocks like Ather Energy rose over 5%, while some traditional auto names saw mixed pressure. Draft open for comments till mid-May.
