Government and LIC Move Forward with IDBI Bank Divestment; NSDL IPO in Focus
The Indian government and LIC are progressing with the sale of a combined 61% stake in IDBI Bank, following the DIPAM’s EoI in January 2023. Shortlisted bidders, after RBI scrutiny, have accessed the bank’s financial data, marking a key step in the strategic sale.
Simultaneously, IDBI Bank is among the key sellers in the upcoming NSDL IPO, a Rs 3,000 crore offer for sale set to launch in March. Alongside Union Bank, SBI, and HDFC Bank, IDBI’s participation in the NSDL IPO is expected to boost investor interest in banking stocks.
The divestment and IPO participation highlight IDBI Bank’s evolving role in India’s financial sector, with both developments likely to impact market sentiment in the near term.
