Government Initiates Fresh Valuation of IDBI Bank in Renewed Push for Privatisation

A senior government official confirmed that the revised valuation will serve as the new benchmark for any future stake sale in the lender, signalling a more calibrated approach to the privatisation process amid subdued market conditions and earlier weak bids. “We are still in the process of valuation and no decision has been taken yet. The fresh valuation itself will take about a month to complete, and only after that will we be in a position to take a call,” the official told Moneycontrol. At this stage, it remains undecided whether new expressions of interest (EoIs) will be invited. That call will be made once the valuation is finalised and the government has greater clarity on the way forward.
