HDFC Bank Shares Decline on Ex-Dividend Date; RBI Grants Keki Mistry Three-Month Tenure Extension

$HDFCBANK k shares opened lower today as the stock began trading ex-dividend for the final dividend of ₹13 per share for FY26. The adjustment reflects the standard market practice where stock prices typically drop by approximately the dividend amount on the ex-date. In early trading, the stock fell around 2.2% to approximately ₹782 on the NSE, down from its previous close of ₹799. On an adjusted basis (excluding the dividend impact), the decline was more modest at roughly 0.5%. This comes after a modest gain in the prior session. The ₹13 final dividend, combined with a special interim dividend of ₹2.50 paid earlier, brings HDFC Bank's total dividend payout for FY26 to ₹15.50 per equity share. The record date for eligibility is today, June 19, 2026. Shareholders who held the stock before this date will receive the payout, subject to necessary approvals. The bank has a strong dividend history, with previous final dividends of ₹22 in FY25, ₹19.50 in FY24, and ₹19 in FY23.
