Air Chief Marshal’s Criticism
During an inspection at an air show on February 11, Air Chief Marshal Singh voiced his concerns about HAL’s track record in delivering the Tejas Mk1A fighter jets on time. He emphasized that the company was not operating in a “mission mode” and failed to instill confidence in its ability to meet the IAF’s requirements.
“I can only tell you our requirements and what our worries are. You have to alleviate those worries and make us more confident. At the moment, I am just not confident of HAL, which is a very, very wrong thing to happen,” Singh told HAL officials during the event.
Market Reaction
The Air Chief Marshal’s comments weighed heavily on investor sentiment, leading to a decline in HAL’s share price at the opening of trade on February 12. The stock opened lower on the bourses, reflecting concerns over the company’s operational efficiency and its ability to fulfill critical defense contracts.
