The disinvestment of
IDBI
is progressing and is expected to be finalized by December 2025, according to sources cited by ET NOW. The government and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), which together own over 95% of the bank’s stake, plan to divest a combined 60.72%. The Centre, holding 45.48%, aims to sell 30.48%, while LIC, with 49.24%, will offload 30.24%.
The process, a key component of the Modi government’s divestment strategy, is moving forward, with financial bids expected to be invited by September, pending regulatory clearance. The draft stake sale agreement is in its final stages with potential buyers. Despite multiple delays, the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) remains optimistic, having received several Expressions of Interest (EoI) in January 2023.
On July 10, IDBI Bank shares closed at Rs 100, within a 52-week range of Rs 65.89 to Rs 107.90, with a market cap of Rs 1.07 lakh crore.
