Shares Surge 4% on New Codeshare Pact with China Southern Airlines New Delhi, November 11, 2025 – InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of India's leading low-cost carrier IndiGo, saw its shares climb nearly 4% on Monday, making it the top performer on the Nifty 50 index. The rally was triggered by the airline's announcement of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a codeshare partnership and mutual cooperation agreement with China Southern Airlines. The stock opened higher and touched an intraday gain of around 4%, reflecting investor optimism over the expanded connectivity between India and China. This move comes amid IndiGo's recent efforts to bolster its international presence, particularly in the high-potential Asia-Pacific region. Partnership Details and Benefits Under the proposed codeshare agreement—pending regulatory approvals—IndiGo passengers will gain seamless access to China Southern Airlines' vast network beyond Guangzhou. This will enable travelers to book integrated itineraries across both carriers' routes, simplifying journeys between key Indian cities and multiple destinations in China. The collaboration is designed to enhance travel options for passengers flying between the two countries. IndiGo highlighted that customers will benefit from combined networks, offering greater flexibility and convenience on joint flights. IndiGo has already ramped up its India-China operations. The airline recently resumed daily direct flights from Kolkata to Guangzhou and launched a new nonstop service between Delhi and Guangzhou. The codeshare pact builds on these routes, allowing for deeper integration and broader reach.
