IndiGo Soars to New Heights as World’s Most Valuable Airline

INDIGO
o, India’s top low-cost airline, has made history by briefly overtaking Delta Air Lines and Ryanair to become the world’s most valuable airline by market capitalization, crossing Rs 2 lakh crore ($23.3 billion). Its stock surged 13 percent in 2025, closing nearly 1 percent higher today, despite a 6 percent drop in the Nifty index amid tariff uncertainties. Dominating over 60 percent of India’s domestic market, IndiGo is now eyeing global growth, aiming for international operations to contribute 40 percent of its available seat kilometers (ASK) by FY30, up from 28 percent in FY25. The airline plans to add 50 aircraft in FY26 to its fleet of 439, with 50 currently grounded. In Q3 FY25, InterGlobe Aviation reported a net profit of Rs 2,449 crore, down 18 percent from Rs 2,998 crore a year ago due to a stronger festival season last year. Revenue rose 14 percent to Rs 22,111 crore, fueled by a 12 percent ASK increase and a 13.5 percent rise in revenue passenger kilometers, with the load factor hitting 86.9 percent. Defying global challenges like China’s 84 percent tariff hike on U.S. imports, IndiGo’s focus on cost efficiency and expansion keeps it soaring. Management expects double-digit ASK growth in FY26, cementing its position as a global aviation leader.
