IndiGo Stock Jumps 2% on Sensex Inclusion; Tata Motors PV Falls 1.5% on Exclusion

Aviation Ltd (IndiGo) shares rose as much as 2% in early trade on Monday after BSE announced that the country’s largest airline will replace Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd in the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex effective December 22, 2025. IndiGo touched an intra-day high of ₹5,953 and was trading around that level by mid-morning. The stock has now gained over 28% year-to-date in 2025 and 9% in the last six months. With a market capitalisation of approximately ₹2.27 lakh crore, IndiGo commands a standalone P/E multiple of nearly 45x. In contrast, shares of the recently demerged Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) slipped over 1.5% on the exclusion news, hitting an intra-day low of ₹356.65. The stock, which listed on October 14, 2025, at a discovered price of ₹400 after adjusting for the demerger of Tata Motors’ commercial vehicles business, now carries a market cap of ₹1.32 lakh crore and trades at a modest P/E of just above 1.4x.
