Jana Small Finance Bank Shares Surge 5% on RBI Approval Bid

JSFB
mall Finance Bank’s shares jumped 5% on June 10, 2025, hitting an eight-month high of Rs 549 per share. The rally follows the bank’s announcement on June 9, 2025, that it has applied to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a voluntary transition to a universal bank under the RBI’s ‘on tap’ licensing guidelines. To qualify, a small finance bank must meet stringent criteria, including a minimum five-year track record, listing on a recognized stock exchange, a net worth of at least Rs 1,000 crore, and compliance with capital adequacy norms. Additionally, the bank must report net profits for the last two financial years, with gross non-performing assets (GNPA) and net non-performing assets (NNPA) below 3% and 1%, respectively. Jana Small Finance Bank reported a robust net worth of Rs 3,874.31 crore as of Q4 FY25, well above the RBI’s threshold. The transition, if approved, would allow Jana to expand its offerings, marking a significant milestone in its growth trajectory.
