JSWINFRA
saw its shares jump by 9% following a report by Motilal Oswal that named the company its top pick in the booming Indian ports sector. The brokerage firm's optimistic outlook on the industry as a whole fueled investor confidence in JSW Infrastructure.
Motilal Oswal highlighted the crucial role of India's ports, which handle a staggering 95% of the nation's export volumes and 70% of its export value. They predict robust growth for the sector, anticipating a 3-6% annual expansion in cargo traffic and a stabilization of utilization levels around 55% in the medium term. Container traffic is also expected to see significant growth, with forecasts of 4-7% annually over the next five years, driven by factors like increasing imports, reduced freight costs, and the normalization of global supply chains.
The brokerage firm's report emphasized the substantial capacity expansion planned for Indian ports. Between FY23 and FY28, an estimated 500-550 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of capacity is projected to be added, driven by increased handling of key commodities such as petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL), coal, and containerized cargo.
While JSW Infrastructure was their top pick, Motilal Oswal also expressed bullish sentiment towards Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), the largest private port operator in India. They have assigned a 'buy' call to APSEZ, citing its continued market share gains, strong cash flow generation, and maintained leverage position.#TechnicalViews#FundamentalViews#StockInNews#WatchOutFor#EquityResearch
