HDFC Life Insurance led the gains, closing more than 5% higher at Rs 557 on the NSE and emerging as the top gainer on the Nifty 50. SBI Life Insurance rose over 4% to Rs 1,766.90, while Max Financial Services advanced 4.5%. New India Assurance climbed as much as 7%, and ICICI Lombard gained 3.2%. The rally followed reports that the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is set to release a consultation paper on insurance commissions and distribution practices. Sources indicate the paper may not impose strict limits on commissions or management expenses but is expected to offer clearer direction on the issue.
