Lupin Launches Generic Dapagliflozin in US Market

Limited has launched Dapagliflozin Tablets in 5 mg and 10 mg strengths in the United States. The launch follows approval of its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA). The product is bioequivalent to AstraZeneca’s Farxiga® and is used for managing type 2 diabetes, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease. This entry into the high-value SGLT2 inhibitor segment is expected to strengthen Lupin’s presence and revenue in the competitive US generics market. The launch comes shortly after patent opportunities opened for the molecule.
