Manappuram Finance Stock Surges on Bain Capital Acquisition Report

MANAPPURAM
jumped 2.45% to Rs 206.25 on the NSE on Friday, February 24th, following reports that private equity giant Bain Capital is nearing a deal to acquire a controlling stake in the non-banking financial company (NBFC). The news has injected optimism into the market, which had seen Manappuram Finance's stock struggle recently. This potential acquisition comes on the heels of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lifting restrictions on Asirwad Micro Finance, Manappuram's microfinance subsidiary, just a month ago. The removal of these curbs is seen as a positive development for Manappuram's overall business and may have paved the way for the Bain Capital deal.   Manappuram Finance has a market capitalization of approximately Rs 17,000 crore based on Friday's closing price. The company is led by Managing Director and CEO Nandakumar VP, who holds a significant 35.35% stake and heads the promoter group. His continued involvement likely signals confidence in the company's future direction, even with the potential change in ownership.
