OFSS Shares Dip 4% After Oracle Invokes Force Majeure

Oracle Financial Services Software (OFSS)

OFSS
fell about 4% on September 25, trading near Rs 10,460 in morning deals, after its US parent Oracle issued a force majeure notice related to a major data centre project. Oracle sent the notice to a Blue Owl unit developing the large Project Jupiter campus in New Mexico. The company cited potential delays in securing adequate power supply. Force majeure clauses typically allow parties to suspend certain contractual duties when events beyond their control arise. In this case, Oracle is seeking to postpone higher payments rather than exit the project as the main tenant, according to reports. The 1,400-acre facility, backed by roughly $18 billion in loans, forms part of Oracle’s broader push to deliver AI computing capacity, including under the Stargate initiative involving OpenAI and other partners. It was originally targeted to come online around 2028. The site has already encountered infrastructure hurdles, including delays to a natural-gas pipeline and permit challenges over water and air quality.
