β s parent company) experienced a fall on Tuesday morning after a major block deal hit the market. The transaction involved the exchange of 1.32 crore shares, representing approximately 2.07 percent of the company's total equity.
The deal was executed at a price of Rs 1,307 per share, totaling a value of about Rs 1,722 crore. This executed value slightly exceeded the expected transaction value of Rs 1,639.7 crore, confirming that the full anticipated quantum of shares was moved.
Key Investors Behind the Sale
The block deal is strongly linked to early investors SAIF III Mauritius, SAIF Partners, and Elevation Capital, who were reportedly planning to offload up to 2 percent of Paytm's outstanding equity.
The floor price for the stake sale was initially set at Rs 1,281 per share, which was a 3.9% discount to the previous closing price.
These investors are now subject to a 60-day lock-up period, restricting them from further stake sales immediately.
As of the September quarter, SAIF III Mauritius held a 10.76 percent stake, and SAIF Partners India IV Ltd held 4.57 percent in Paytm
