mmunications, the parent company of digital payments giant Paytm, climbed 1% to reach a new 52-week high of Rs 1,238 per share on Wednesday. The surge follows Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund increasing its stake in the company beyond the 5% threshold, signaling strong investor confidence.
Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund acquired an additional 26.31 lakh shares, equivalent to a 0.41% stake, through open market transactions on August 11, 2024. This purchase raised its total holding to 3.29 crore shares, or 5.15% of One 97 Communications’ equity capital, up from its previous 4.75% stake of 3.02 crore shares. The acquisition triggered a disclosure under SEBI’s Substantial Acquisition of Shares and Takeovers (SAST) Regulations, 2011, due to crossing the 5% ownership mark.
The increased investment comes on the heels of Paytm’s robust financial performance in Q1 FY26, where the company reported a net profit of Rs 122.5 crore, marking a significant turnaround. This has further bolstered market optimism about Paytm’s growth trajectory in the competitive fintech space.
