Petronet LNG Shares Surge 4% on 15-Year Ethane Deal with ONGC

net LNG rallied over 4% on Thursday, December 4, 2025, touching ₹279.80 apiece in morning trade and snapping a five-session losing streak, after the company signed a long-term agreement with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). In a binding term sheet announced after market hours on December 3, Petronet LNG will provide ethane unloading, storage, and handling (USH) services to ONGC for 15 years, starting between October and December 2028. Under the pact, ONGC will reserve around 600 KTPA (kilo tonnes per annum) of capacity at Petronet’s upcoming ethane facilities at Dahej, Gujarat. The infrastructure includes a new 170,000 cubic metre ethane storage tank and a unique third jetty capable of handling ethane and propane alongside LNG.
