RBI Extends Keki Mistry’s Tenure as HDFC Bank Part-Time Chairman Till September 18

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved a three-month extension for Keki Mistry as part-time chairman of HDFC Bank. His tenure, which was set to end today, will now continue until September 18, 2026, or until a new non-executive part-time chairman is appointed, whichever is earlier. The extension comes as the bank continues its search for a permanent successor. Mistry had taken over in March this year after former chairman Atanu Chakraborty resigned citing ethical disagreements. The RBI had earlier urged the bank to expedite the appointment process. HDFC Bank also announced its 32nd Annual General Meeting on August 5, 2026, via video conferencing, with dividend payments scheduled from August 6. The development provides continuity in leadership amid the ongoing transition. $HDFCBANK ank shares closed 1.49% higher at ₹798.55 on the BSE today.
