Samvardhana Motherson Shares Drop 3% Despite Strong Q3 FY25 Results

fell over 3% despite the company reporting a significant improvement in its financial performance for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2025 (Q3 FY25). The decline in share price came even as the automotive components manufacturer posted a robust 62% year-on-year (YoY) increase in net profit and a healthy rise in revenue and EBITDA.
Financial Performance Highlights
Samvardhana Motherson reported a net profit of ₹879 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2024, a substantial jump from ₹542 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year (Q3 FY24). This growth was driven by improved operational efficiency and strong demand in key markets.
The company’s revenue from operations also saw an 8% YoY increase, rising to ₹27,666 crore in Q3 FY25 compared to ₹25,644 crore in Q3 FY24. This growth reflects the company’s ability to capitalize on favorable market conditions and expand its business operations.
EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) for the quarter stood at ₹2,776 crore, showcasing a notable improvement from previous quarters. The EBITDA margin expansion indicates better cost management and operational leverage. However, the company’s expenses also rose by nearly 7% to ₹26,559 crore, reflecting increased input costs and investments in growth initiatives.
The net profit margin improved to 3.6% in Q3 FY25, up from 2.5% in Q3 FY24, underscoring the company’s efforts to enhance profitability.
