Tata Motors Fixes October 14 as Record Date for Demerged Commercial Vehicle Shares

TATAMOTORS
d. has set Tuesday, October 14, 2025, as the record date for issuing shares in its demerged commercial vehicle (CV) business, marking a key milestone in the company's restructuring efforts. In a regulatory filing to stock exchanges, the automaker announced that eligible shareholders will receive one fully paid-up share of TML Commercial Vehicles Limited (TMLCV) – with a face value of INR 2 each – for every share they hold in Tata Motors as of the record date. This 1:1 ratio applies across all classes of outstanding shares. The demerger, approved by the board in August 2024, aims to create two focused listed entities: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (TMPVL) for the passenger segment and TMLCV for commercial operations. The newly allotted TMLCV shares are slated for listing on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in November 2025, with the commercial unit retaining the Tata Motors Ltd. (TML) name post-listing. "This strategic split will enable sharper focus and unlock growth potential in our distinct business verticals," the company stated in its filing. The announcement boosted investor sentiment, with Tata Motors shares emerging as a top gainer on the Nifty 50 index, trading at Rs 701.90 on the NSE – up 3.46% around midday. Shareholders are advised to monitor official communications for further details on the corporate action, ensuring compliance with eligibility criteria ahead of the record date.
