Tata Motors' JLR Resumes US Exports After Tariff Relief

TATAMOTORS
otors' luxury car brand, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), has reportedly resumed exports to the United States after a temporary halt. According to a Reuters report citing the London Times, JLR dispatched its first shipment on April 30th, ending a near month-long pause that began in early April. The suspension followed the imposition of a 25% tariff on car imports by the US on April 2nd. This tariff had prompted JLR to halt shipments temporarily. While JLR has not officially confirmed the resumption, this development is significant given that the US represents the second-largest market for UK-made JLR vehicles, accounting for approximately 20% of its exports, after the European Union. A JLR spokesperson, in a statement to Reuters, affirmed the US as a crucial market despite the ongoing 25% auto tariffs. The company stated it is implementing short-term actions while developing mid- to long-term strategies to address the new US trading terms. A more detailed update is expected during JLR's full-year results in May. Following this news, Tata Motors' shares saw an increase of up to 1% today, and have risen by 12.5% over the past month.
