Tata Motors Shares Rise 2.5% Despite 63% Drop in Q1FY26 Profit

s Ltd. saw its share price climb 2.5 percent despite reporting a 63 percent year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit for the April–June 2025 quarter (Q1FY26). The company’s profit after tax fell to Rs 3,924 crore from Rs 10,514 crore in the same quarter last year, yet it surpassed Street estimates of Rs 3,408 crore. Revenue from operations slightly declined by 0.3 percent to Rs 1.04 lakh crore from Rs 1.07 lakh crore in Q1FY25. Financial Performance On a sequential basis, Tata Motors’ profit after tax dropped 54 percent from Rs 8,470 crore in Q4FY25, while revenue fell 13 percent from Rs 1.19 lakh crore. The company attributed the weaker performance to a challenging demand environment, particularly impacting its Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and India passenger vehicle businesses. However, the India commercial vehicle segment showed resilience, contributing to the earnings beat.
