Tata Motors, Tata Investment Shares Surge on Tata Capital's Potential $11 Billion IPO

Shares of

TATAMOTORS
s and Tata Investment Corporation (TICL) experienced a notable uptick, rising up to 3%, driven by reports of Tata Capital's potential $11 billion valuation in its upcoming IPO. Tata Capital, the financial services arm of the Tata Group, is poised for a significant public offering, potentially India's largest this year, with plans to raise up to $2 billion. The surge in Tata Motors and TICL shares is attributed to their respective stakes in Tata Capital. Tata Motors holds a nearly 4% stake, while TICL owns approximately 2%. Consequently, a higher valuation for Tata Capital directly benefits these companies. Furthermore, TICL, as the Tata Group's investment arm, gains from the overall growth and valuation increases of its portfolio companies, including those within the Tata conglomerate. Reports indicate that Tata Capital's board has approved the IPO, which will feature a fresh issue of shares and an offer-for-sale (OFS) component. The company is mandated to list by September 2025, adhering to Reserve Bank of India regulations for "upper layer" NBFCs. Tata Sons, the primary shareholder with a 92.83% stake, has consistently supported Tata Capital's growth, evidenced by substantial capital infusions in recent years. This potential IPO underscores the Tata Group's strategic expansion in the financial lending sector, boosting investor confidence and driving the share price increases of associated Tata entities.
