Borosil Renewables Eyes Rooftop Solar Growth

BORORENEW
is expanding its presence in the rooftop solar segment, a move that could provide an additional growth avenue and support profitability over the medium term. The company expects its rooftop solar business to generate around ₹100 crore in revenue during the first year of operations, indicating a meaningful opportunity to diversify its revenue base beyond solar glass manufacturing. The expansion comes at a time when India’s rooftop solar market is witnessing increasing adoption, supported by rising electricity costs, government incentives and greater focus on distributed renewable energy. Alongside the rooftop solar initiative, Borosil Renewables is significantly increasing its solar-glass manufacturing capacity. The company’s capacity is set to rise to 1,600 tonnes per day (TPD), compared with the existing 1,000 TPD, representing a 60% increase. The additional capacity is expected to strengthen the company’s ability to cater to rising domestic demand for solar modules and reduce capacity constraints. Management expects the full benefits of the expanded capacity to be reflected from FY28, suggesting a potentially stronger contribution to revenue and operating profitability as utilisation improves. Overall, the combination of rooftop solar expansion and higher solar-glass capacity could strengthen Borosil Renewables’ positioning across the solar value chain and provide multiple avenues for future growth.
