UltraTech Cement to Deploy 600+ Electric Trucks

ULTRACEMCO
is set to significantly accelerate the electrification of its supply chain by deploying a fleet of more than 600 heavy-duty electric trucks by December 2026. The initiative is expected to transform clinker transportation across the company’s logistics network while reducing dependence on conventional diesel-powered heavy vehicles. The electric fleet is projected to transport around 5 million metric tonnes of clinker annually, marking a substantial shift towards cleaner and more sustainable freight movement. UltraTech expects the initiative to deliver a net reduction of over 1,17,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year, supporting its broader decarbonisation and sustainability objectives. The move is also likely to improve long-term logistics efficiency and reduce exposure to volatile fossil-fuel costs. With heavy-duty trucks accounting for a significant share of freight-related emissions, scaling electric mobility at this level could strengthen UltraTech’s environmental credentials while demonstrating the viability of EVs for energy-intensive industrial transportation.
