ABFRL reported a mixed financial performance for the first quarter of FY27, characterized by steady top-line growth offset by continued pressure on profitability.
Revenue: Consolidated revenue from operations grew by 10.6% year-over-year (YoY) to ₹2,025.6 crore, up from ₹1,831.5 crore in Q1 FY26, demonstrating resilient consumer demand.
Net Loss: The company recorded a net loss of ₹215.2 crore, slightly widening from a net loss of ₹212 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Operating Margins: EBITDA increased by 5% YoY to ₹117.1 crore. However, the EBITDA margin contracted to 5.78% (down from 6.10% a year earlier), reflecting elevated operational costs.
Segmental Performance
Pantaloons & Youth Brands: The core Pantaloons segment registered a solid 10% YoY revenue growth. OWND, the brand targeting Gen Z and Gen Alpha demographics, delivered an impressive 55% growth, expanding its presence to 88 stores.
Digital-First Brands: Online digital-first revenues rose 11% YoY. While the segment remains loss-making, operational efficiencies improved—EBITDA losses narrowed significantly to ₹42 crore (from ₹63 crore YoY), improving the margin from -31.8% to -19.2%.
Luxury & Ethnic Wear: The luxury portfolio (featuring The Collective and Mono brands) was a standout performer, surging 30% YoY with strong double-digit growth and reaching a network of 51 stores. The Ethnic wear segment posted a modest 4% YoY growth.
Network Expansion
ABFRL continues to scale its physical footprint effectively. During the quarter, the company added over 45 new stores across its brand portfolio, translating to a net addition of 70,000 sq. ft.
