Cochin Shipyard Secures Major International Contract for Next-Generation Vessels

COCHINSHIP
Cochin Shipyard Ltd. (CSL) announced on October 14, 2025, the successful securing of a "mega" export order, defined as exceeding ₹2,000 crore in value, from a prominent European client. This strategic contract is for the design and construction of six highly specialized feeder container vessels, each with a capacity of approximately 1,700 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units). Crucially, these vessels will be powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), directly positioning CSL in the high-growth segment of sustainable, environmentally compliant global shipping. The transition to LNG-powered fleets is recognized as a key step in maritime decarbonization and offers substantial compliance and operational advantages for international operators. A Letter of Intent (LoI) has been formalized, and the full techno-commercial contract details are slated for finalization imminently. Following the inclusion of this major win, CSL's overall order book is reported to stand at ₹21,100 crore, reflecting sustained revenue visibility, relative to the ₹22,500 crore recorded at the end of the June quarter of financial year 2025. The market reaction was favorable, with CSL shares gaining 1.1% to trade at ₹1,779 on the news. This underscores continued investor confidence in CSL’s expanding commercial export capabilities beyond its core defense PSU operations.
